- Be deliberate and focused:
- Make a list of items you want to get on Black Friday and or Cyber Monday. That way, you don’t get distracted and side tracked!
- Do:
- Take advantage of coat and outwear sales as this is a good time to stock up.
- Buy electronics, video games, appliances as ’tis the season to get great deals on those.
- Be careful about snapping up toys as according to RetailMeNot shopping expert Sara Skirboll, the best deals on toys are found about two weeks before Christmas.
- Don’t:
- Buy fitness machines/equipment. Given new year fitness mania, that’s a better time to buy.
- Be tempted to stock up on sheets and bedding. Wait until the new year as there will be “white sales” in January.
- Get furniture unless you need furniture for all those family members you’re going to be hosting:-) Sara Skirboll says indoor furniture is lowest in January and July through August while outdoor/patio furniture deals are usually found in August and September.
- Purchase clothes if the discount isn’t at least 40%!
