Red. Purple. Animal Print. DVF. • Tokes' Take on Style

Red. Purple. Animal Print. DVF.

red and purple animal print DVF wrap top

Hello beauties.  I’m a fan of animal prints! Leopard, Snake, Zebra, oh my! Love them all.  The weather in the DC-Maryland-Virginia has really shifted in the last week and we’re starting to really experience fall.  That said, today’s post features what I call a “fun pop of color fall outfit” (try saying that 10 times!)

I paired a colorful red and purple DVF animal print wrap top with a red skirt.  It’s not for the faint of heart, color-wise.  But as always, I encourage you to try pops of color, yes, even in the fall-winter time:) Yes, even with workwear.  Has a way of brightening your day, trust me.

People who know me know I love a good deal!  Scored the top during a sample sale a few years ago though what’s funny is this post happens to be the first time I’ve worn this beauty since I got it.  (Shout out to my friend Sandra! We stood on that line together lol but was for a worthy cause:) What I love about DVF in general, are the fun prints that add a certain “je ne said quoi” to any item on which they’re featured.  If you’re looking for a smartphone, iPad or cosmetics case with some personality, snag a DVF one.  The lady behind it all (Diane von Furstenberg) embodies a real life version of a wonder woman so what’s not to love! Got the chance to hear her speak at a women’s event hosted by a former employer years ago and the experience has always stayed with me.  She’s a “lady’s lady,” so to speak.

Anyway, love for DVF aside:) What I like about this top is that it is very versatile.  You’ve got red, purple, black, all wrapped up in a pretty animal print.  Makes for lots of styling options:

  • Option 1 (what I have on)=you can pair with a skirt (pencil, flared, a-line…it works with all)
  • Option 2=for a more casual look, pair it with jeans (flared, skinny, boyfriend, works with all)
  • Option 3=wear over a dress (think sleeveless sheath or sleeveless a-line/flared midi)

See below for an inspiration board.  I show different pairings to give some ideas on how a red and purple print top could be styled.  Which one of the looks below do you like? Also more pics below + outfit details.
