1.Pray
Life gets crazy but I’m glad I can pray whenever I’m having a moment! My mom always used to say you don’t have to do anything fancy to pray and that you can pray anywhere! In the bathroom, on the toilet seat, in a meeting (yeah, when you need to restrain yourself loll), while driving, at your desk…Don’t laugh but MC Hammer knew what he was talking about when he said “You’ve got to pray just to make it today!” When life happens and it just seems like it’s a lot going on all at once, taking a minute to take a deep breath then pray, definitely helps!
2.Listen to Good Music
I’m a huge fan of music. Music takes you back to distant places and events long forgotten. When you are running around doing what you do: commuting; taking kids to school and activities; traveling; working…There’s nothing like a nice jam to set the mood. Everyone’s got a soundtrack so play yours, girl! It helps get me through the day. I’m the crazy person you’ve seen jamming in the car like no man’s business. Yesss, if it keeps me from getting caught up in road rage-friendly situations, hell yeah, I’m doing my own version of carpool karaoke, solo style:-)
3.Surround yourself with Supportive Peeps
Remember when “Who wants to be a millionaire” was hot?! Yeah, well, you don’t have to be a contestant on that show to dial or text a friend. I’m grateful that I have people I can do sanity checks with by simply texting them to get their take on a situation or to simply vent. Everyone needs a good venting session every now and then so don’t keep it in! Not healthy!
4.Take Care of yourself
Health is wealth so it’s important to do those things that help promote a healthy lifestyle. With a commute and a busy job, it can be hard for me to make it to the gym as often as I’d like. This may be your situation as well…Meaning, there are legitimate reasons why your best laid workout plans don’t always pan out. That’s okay! Long as you make an effort to get on track when “life happens,” it’s all good!
As a busy working mom with an hourlong commute, I always make sure I have snacks in the car/in my purse. Thinking ahead and packing something for when you’re on the go, is a great idea because it helps you avoid having to stop and buy not-so-healthy aka junk food:-) Snacks like Glutino pretzels are my go-to for snacking on the go. I got a free bag courtesy of Influenster and Glutino…Let me tell you how I ordered more from Amazon lol No joke! I love them!
5.Don’t be Afraid to Time Out from Social Media and Rest!
There are weekends where I take a page from my little girls’ book and I sneak in a nap! Yess! With the constant running around and driving, doing this and that, it can take a toll. While I still don’t get in as many hours of sleep as I’d like, I squeeze in cat naps when I can. Don’t underestimate the power of taking a breather.
Also, we are all smartphone addicts. Our devices are pretty much appendages at this point! We can’t live without them. But sometimes, we need to just say no and put it down. The world won’t stop because you missed a newsfeed update or didn’t reply to a message or comment right away. Trust!
